After obtaining the necessary approvals and after official assignment, students will be able to work with the assigned faculty under the following conditions: (a) Students will be paid 20 SAR/hour. (b) The maximum number of hours per week is 20. (c) Research activities need to lead to the submission of one conference or journal paper per semester to be accepted no later than one year from the student’s first day of employment. Journals and conferences should be Scopus-Indexed as per PMU Policy.

-          Limit of 2 research assistants per faculty.

-          Research positions are available per budget and will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.

-          A limited number of positions at PMU will be determined annually depending on the budget of Student Affairs.

Procedure :

Once a PMU Faculty member identifies a student(s) who is capable of serving as “research assistant”, he/she should:

1-      Write a formal request via email to the Dean of Student Affairs along with the student’s name, ID, and other relevant information. The request should include the title of the research project to which the student will contribute, a brief abstract, and deliverable research publications.

It should also mention the obligation of mentorship to ensure that the experience of doing research can adequately benefit the student.

2-      The Deanship of Student Affairs will approve or reject the request. If approved, the Dean of Student Affairs will CC finance and relevant departments for implementation.

3-      Forms and time sheets will be those currently in use for student part time job. However, they will indicate that payment is 20 SAR/hour.

4-      The work accomplished by student research assistants will be assessed every semester and annually to ensure that planned work was completed, as well as to determine the outcome of conference or journal submissions.
